  1. MANUAL FOR !Partition (Application)
  2.  
  3. This file describes the program Partition which gives single click access to 
  4. upto four harddisk partitions (eg.a DOS parition for a PC card/emulator).This
  5. program runs on the 32 bit Risc OS platform using Risc OS 3.10 or better.
  6. The manual and software are (C)1997 SPROW
  7.  
  8. INSTRUCTIONS-
  9. Having installed the software onto a harddisk simply double click on the 
  10. drive shaped !Partition icon.After a couple of seconds it will appear on the 
  11. left of the icon bar.
  12.  
  13. During use,right clicks on its icon cycle through the currently setup 
  14. partitions on you disk,and a left click opens the respective partition.
  15.  
  16. At any time,if you should add a new partition or rename/remove an old then
  17. clicking menu over its icon will reveal a 'Setup...' option.
  18.  
  19. Once opened,this window presents buttons to look through the 4 partitions
  20. allowed,numbered surprisingly one to four.
  21.  
  22. Enter in the 'Path' box where the partition appears,this may also be filled in
  23. by dropping the partition onto the setup window.
  24. Enter in the 'Name' box what name you wish to refer to the partition.This text
  25. must however appear under the icon,so it can't be too long!
  26.  
  27. Choose 'Save settings' when satisfied,as using the close button in the top
  28. left of the window will result in settings being lost when the computer is
  29. turned off.

  31. EXIT MESSAGES-
  32. "The partitions you have created have no paths associated with them" - this
  33.                  is caused because you have not typed anything in the 'Path:'
  34.                  boxes.The setup window will remain open.
  35. "The 'Setup' file for this application has been damaged" - when reading in
  36.                  you old settings,the pointers were found to be inconsistent
  37.                  with the length of the file.The record which was being read
  38.                  in at the time will be set to say 'Broken'.If the damaged
  39.                  record was not the last in the file,all file access is
  40.                  stopped and the rest of the records will then be set to
  41.                  just blanks.Setup box opens.
  42. "No settings have been made yet for 'Partition' so it cannot be used" - this 
  43.                  appears on first running the program or if the 'Setup' file
  44.                  is deleted.Setup box opens.
  45.  
  46. KNOWN PROBLEMS/FUTURE ENHANCEMENTS-
  47. No known problems.
  48. Pressing return with the setup window open should have the same effect as
  49. pressing the 'Save settings' button.

  54. V1.10 Allows dropping of partition's directory onto the setup box to prevent
  55.       repetitive strain injury from typing in very long path names.
  56.       Error boxes are non-multitasking now,so F12 wont put you at the command
  57.       line.This results in the Templates file becoming much smaller.
  58.       At each stage the existance of at least one valid partition is checked,
  59.       if none exists,then the user is now prompted for one.
  60. V1.15 Text 'Damaged' changed to 'Broken' so that it fits under the iconbar icon
  61.       when the setup file is damaged.Icon is also shaded if the program is not
  62.       properly set up.
